Mindfulness enables the mind to have conscious awareness, which encourages us to learn from our own experiences. It's not about clearing our minds but more about being aware of our thoughts and feelings and welcoming them all. The good, the bad and the indifferent.
The more we practice being mindful the stronger our minds become and the stronger our feelings of contentment.

There are many physical, mental and emotional benefits to living mindfully:
Increased energy
Relaxes tension
Lowers blood pressure
Supports digestion
Relieves stress
Improves sleep
Strengthens our coping mechanisms
Heart benefits - physically through lowered blood pressure and stress and emotionally through increased acceptance and understanding
Greater appreciation and gratitude
Enhanced ability to deal with illness
Better focus, attention and sharpness
Enhanced resilience
Improved general health
An impressive list, eh?! There are so many scientific studies confirming these amazing benefits, with more being discovered all the time.
But many of us get wrapped up in everyday life, rushing from here to there, without fully experiencing and enjoying what is in front of us.

Just take a read of that list again. With such positive potential outcomes, why would we not practice mindfulness?
